June
12th: Marco
had been champing at the bit all day to get into the No. 12 Lola
Rebellion Coupe. Teammates
Neel Jani and Nicolas Prost took the opening two stints for the
LMP1 (Le Mans Prototype, class 1) team. The only major setback
early on was a lengthy stop in the garage to address gearbox
overheating that pushed the No. 12 Rebellion Racing Team car far
back in the overall field. (photos by Jakob Ebrey / Rebellion Racing)

The #12 Rebellion Racing team had started P16 overall, registering
a 3:33.490 time in the second session of qualifying. Marco's first
driver transfer was
made
with
around 17 hours to go in the day-long endurance race. Prost handed
the wheel over to Marco for the American driver's first stint.
Buckling-in seemed to take slightly longer than perhaps
normal, but he was off cleanly and
onto the track. At the time, the car was in P15 in the LMP1 class.
Marco turned in a time of 3:33 on his first lap out but he was
back on pit road about 13 minutes later as
the team began to address a gearbox temperature
issue.
The #12 raced hard into the evening with Marco down in 28th position.
Marco's brief was to bring the car back up to the competition.
he did his best with what he had and his goal was to bring it from
28th to 20th, which he did but just kept having to stop for 10
minutes, 13 minutes...
Finally the Rebellion Racing’s
2010 Le Mans came to a cruel end in the 12th hour when Neel Jani
was forced to stop the Lola Rebellion LMP1 Coupe just before the
Ford Chicane. A transmission problem that had seen the car repeatedly
pit finally took its toll.
